Korey Cunningham, born on May 17, 1995, and passed away on April 25, 2024, was a skilled American football player who served as an offensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL) from 2018 to 2022.
Prior to his professional career, he played college football for the Cincinnati Bearcats. In the 2018 NFL draft, Cunningham was chosen by the Arizona Cardinals in the seventh round.
Throughout his time in the NFL, he showcased his talent and dedication while representing the Cardinals, New England Patriots, and New York Giants.

Amateur Career
Cunningham was a student at Montevallo High School in Montevallo, Alabama.
During his time there, he participated in football as both a tight end and defensive end for the school’s team.
Initially, Cunningham had plans to attend Auburn University and join their football program, led by head coach Gene Chizik.
However, when Chizik was replaced by Gus Malzahn, he decided to change his commitment and instead enrolled at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) to play for the UAB Blazers.
Later on, when Blazers’ assistant coach Tyson Helton left UAB to coach at the University of Cincinnati for the Cincinnati Bearcats, Cunningham followed him to Cincinnati.
At Cincinnati, he made the transition to playing as an offensive tackle.
Throughout his time with the Bearcats, he appeared in 33 games and started in his final 24 games as a left tackle.
Professional Career
Arizona Cardinals
Cunningham, a football player, was selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL draft.
After signing his rookie contract on May 11, 2018, he went on to start six games for the Cardinals during the 2018 season.
Unfortunately, he suffered a foot injury in Week 16 and was subsequently placed on injured reserve on December 25, 2018.
New England Patriots
In a trade that took place on August 28, 2019, the Cardinals traded Cunningham to the New England Patriots in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the 2020 NFL draft.
During his time with the Patriots, he played in 18 regular season games, starting six of them, and also participated in one postseason game.
However, on August 31, 2021, Cunningham was released by the Patriots.
New York Giants
Following his release from the Patriots, Cunningham was signed to the practice squad of the New York Giants on September 7, 2021.
He later earned a spot on the active roster on October 19, 2021.
The Giants showed their confidence in Cunningham by re-signing him on March 17, 2022.
Unfortunately, his contract was terminated due to a non-football injury on July 22, 2022.
However, on October 18, 2022, the Giants once again signed Cunningham to their practice squad.
For the week 12 game against the Dallas Cowboys, Cunningham was elevated from the practice squad on November 23, 2022.
He then signed a reserve/future contract on January 22, 2023. However, his journey with the Giants came to an end when he was released on August 27, 2023.
