Osita Iheme, popularly known as Paw-Paw, is a Nigerian actor and comedian born on February 20, 1982, in Mbaitoli, Imo State, Nigeria. He is best known for his comedic roles in Nollywood films, particularly his partnership with Chinedu Ikedieze, with whom he formed the iconic comedy duo “Aki and Paw-Paw.”

Early Life

Osita Iheme was born on February 20, 1982 into a family of five children. His parents, Herbert and Augustina Iheme, were both civil servants. He grew up in a middle-class family and had a relatively comfortable childhood. 

Iheme attended Akaraegbidi Primary School and later enrolled in Obazu Secondary School in Mbaitoli. He developed an interest in acting at a young age, participating in school plays and drama clubs.

His interest in acting made him secure an MBA from the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu (IMT). Thereafter, he began his acting career officially in 1998 where he acted initially in a featured role.


Iheme’s acting career began in the late 1990s, with minor roles in Nollywood films. His breakthrough came in 2002 when he starred alongside Chinedu Ikedieze in the film “Aki na Ukwa,” which earned them the nickname “Aki and Paw-Paw.” 

The duo went on to star in numerous films together, becoming one of the most popular comedy pairs in Nigeria. More so, his popularity as one of Nigeria’s most prominent actors has earned him so many honors, awards as well as ambassadorship deals over the years.  


As of the time of writing this blog post, Osita Iheme is not married. He has no wife or children. However, in the past, there were speculations about him fathering a child when he was seen posing with a baby on a social media post, but it was later confirmed that the child is not his. Osita has somehow managed to shield his personal and private life away from the public eye.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the comedy genre in the Nigerian film industry, Osita Iheme was honored with the prestigious Nigerian National Honor of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) by President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011. 

Additionally, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) in 2007. His iconic performance alongside Chinedu Ikedieze in the 2002 film Aki na Ukwa remains a beloved classic, with his character’s on-screen antics continuing to inspire memes and trending on social media platforms like Twitter since 2019.
