Dafne Keen Fernández, born on January 4, 2005, is a talented actress of Spanish-British descent.

She first gained recognition for her role as Ana “Ani” Cruz Oliver in the TV show The Refugees from 2014 to 2015.

However, it was her performance as Laura in the 2017 film Logan that truly propelled her to stardom, earning her widespread critical acclaim.

Dafne has been honored with various awards, such as an Empire Award for Best Newcomer, and has also received nominations for a Critics’ Choice Award and a Saturn Award.

Early life

Dafne Keen was born in Madrid. She is the daughter of English actor Will Keen and Spanish actress, theatre director and writer María Fernández Ache. Her paternal great-grandfather was Edward Curzon, 6th Earl Howe; her aunts are poet Alice Oswald and writer Laura Beatty.

Career

Keen made her acting debut in 2014, appearing alongside her father in the BBC television series The Refugees as Ana “Ani” Cruz Oliver. The show concluded in 2015 after one season.

Following her debut, Keen landed a role in a major Hollywood production by Marvel Comics two years later.

She starred alongside Hugh Jackman in the 2017 superhero film Logan as Laura, the child clone of Wolverine.

The film was both a critical and financial success, being hailed as one of the best superhero movies ever made.

Keen’s performance was highly praised, earning her various awards and nominations, including an Empire Award for Best Newcomer.

In 2019, Keen was selected for the lead role of Lyra Belacqua in the BBC/HBO adaptation of the His Dark Materials trilogy.

She stars alongside Ruth Wilson, with her father also appearing in the series. The show received positive reviews, with Keen’s performance being particularly lauded.

Keen’s most recent project was the 2020 comedy-drama film Ana, where she starred alongside Andy García.
