Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has turned down a lucrative offer from Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal, opting instead to remain at Old Trafford.
The news was confirmed on Tuesday by renowned Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano, who revealed that the Portuguese midfielder declined a “crazy” contract proposal from the Saudi club.
“Despite crazy contract proposal from the Saudi Pro League club, Bruno Fernandes wants to continue playing football in Europe,” Romano posted on X (formerly Twitter).
According to the report, Fernandes is fully committed to continuing his career at the top level in European football, reinforcing his loyalty to Manchester United amid ongoing interest from big-spending Middle Eastern clubs.
“Man United captain wants to play at top level in Europe. Decision made,” Romano added.
Fernandes, who joined Manchester United in 2020, has been a pivotal figure for the Red Devils and currently serves as the team’s skipper. His decision to stay is a major boost for new manager Rúben Amorim, as the club looks to rebuild and compete at the highest levels next season.
