Nigerian Afrobeats singer Tiwa Savage has revealed that she has frozen her eggs as a precaution for the future, while encouraging women aged 30 and above to do the same.
Speaking in a candid interview with media personality Zeze Mills, the 42-year-old explained that the decision was made to ensure she has the option of having more children later in life, even though she is currently unsure about expanding her family.
Tiwa Savage, who had her first and only child in 2015 at the age of 34 with her ex-husband, Teebillz, admitted she wished she had taken the step earlier.
“Having my first child in my 30s was beautiful because I was more financially and emotionally stable. One advice I will give to women in their 30s is, whether you want to have children or not, freeze your eggs,” she said.
Tiwa Savage added,
“I wish I did it earlier. But I’ve done it now. I don’t know if I want more kids but in case I do, I’ve done that just to have that insurance. Because I don’t know if we are born with a certain amount of egg reserves, you could wake up at 36 and your egg reserve is done. And then that’s when you decide you want to have kids. So, I’m really a big advocate for egg freezing now.”
