Blessed Godsbrain Smart, popularly known as Captain Smart, is a Ghanaian broadcaster and journalist known for his bold and critical commentary on social and political issues.

He gained national recognition hosting the popular morning show “Dwaso Nsem” on Adom FM for seven years, becoming a controversial figure due to his direct and often confrontational style.

Captain Smart is a popular Ghanaian radio presenter and journalist who gained recognition for his morning radio show Dwaso Nsem on Adom FM. He became known for his fearless criticism of the government and resigned from Adom FM in 2019 to join Angel Broadcasting Network.

Early Life and Educational Background 

Blessed Godsbrain Smart who is popularly known as Captain Smart was brought to this world on 5 May 1975 in the Eastern Region of Gold Coast now known as Ghana, in a town called Koforidua 

Career. He was the third child of six children of his parents who happen to be professionals in the education sector. 

As a young boy, growing up in such a family with several children, he had his own fair share of struggles which was to sell ice water in the streets to support his family financially. That way, his parents were able to gather up some money to enroll him in school.  He was a student of Koforidua Secondary Technical School.

And since he had a thing for communication and media, he was made the entertainment prefect and he joined the school’s drama club, igniting his passion with that of other students.  Later in 2010, he graduated from the Garden City University after pursuing a degree in mass comm. 

In addition, he is also a proud Journalism certificate holder from the Ghana Institute of Journalism.  

Career 

Captain Smart’s career in broadcasting blossomed in 2013 when he joined Adom FM. He quickly rose to prominence with his segment “Fabewoso” on the “Dwaso Nsem” morning show, where he tackled sensitive topics with wit and unflinching honesty. 

His willingness to hold government officials accountable and advocate for the voiceless resonated with audiences, but also generated controversy and legal challenges. In 2020, he resigned from Adom FM and briefly joined Angel FM before forming his own media company, Media General Company Ltd. 

He currently hosts a morning show on Onua TV and remains a prominent voice in Ghanaian media.

Personal Life 

Captain Smart tries in keeping his personal life private but the media has a way to sneak through. The Ghanaian prominent media personality currently has 10 children from two marriages and other relationships.  In 2016, he divorced his first wife, Afia Pokuaa after three years of marriage for reasons yet to be known.

Meanwhile, he was accused by the public for snatching Afia Pokuaa from her late husband but he publicly denied the allegations thrown at him.  Moving forward, Captain Smart is married to his second wife named Akosua Sikipa Smart.  Together, both couples have a son named Adomonline who was born on August 7, 2019. 

Awards 

It’s okay to feel that a name as big as Captain Smart would have numerous accolades to his name. Of course, he does have a couple of awards which he has won throughout his career in the media industry.  Some of his notable awards include the Radio and Television Personality (ATP) Awards, the Ghana Journalists Association (GTA) Awards, and the Ghana Peace Awards.

It is difficult to say how much Captain Smart is worth as he keeps his net worth and financial accomplishments largely private and away from public eyes. Some sources claim that he is worth a mouth watering $2 million. Judging from his influence and public acclaim, it is easy to believe that Captain Smart could be worth several million dollars however, these claims are yet to be confirmed to be true.
