Early Life
Moskovitz, a member of the Jewish community, was born on May 22, 1984 in Gainesville, Florida and was raised in Ocala, Florida.
He completed his education at Vanguard High School, successfully graduating from the IB Diploma Program.
Following this, Moskovitz pursued an economics major at Harvard University for a period of two years before relocating to Palo Alto, California with Mark Zuckerberg to dedicate his efforts full-time to Facebook.
Career
Facebook was established in 2004 by four individuals, including Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin, Chris Hughes, and Dustin Moskovitz, who were roommates at Harvard University.
Originally known as thefacebook.com, the platform was created to serve as an online directory for Harvard students.
In 2004, Zuckerberg, Hughes, and Moskovitz relocated Facebook to Palo Alto, California, and expanded the team by hiring eight employees.
Sean Parker later joined the group. Moskovitz held key positions at Facebook, including chief technology officer and vice president of engineering.
Asana was founded in 2008 by Moskovitz and Justin Rosenstein, an engineering manager at Facebook.
The company’s goal is to enhance the productivity of office workers by offering a platform to manage and monitor projects and tasks.
Moskovitz continues to serve as CEO, while Rosenstein is now a board member and advisor.
In 2020, Asana went public with a market value of approximately $5.5 billion through a direct listing. By 2021, Asana had amassed over 107,000 paying customers.
Philanthropy
Moskovitz and his girlfriend, now wife, Cari Tuna, co-founded the philanthropic organization Good Ventures in 2011.
In June 2012, Good Ventures announced a close partnership with charity evaluator GiveWell, both aiming to maximize their impact in line with effective altruism principles.
Good Ventures has generously donated around $100 million to GiveWell top charities such as Against Malaria Foundation, GiveDirectly, Schistosomiasis Control Initiative, and Deworm the World Initiative, as well as other effective altruist organizations.
The collaboration with GiveWell led to the creation of the Open Philanthropy Project, which seeks to determine the most effective ways to utilize significant financial resources, including Moskovitz’s substantial fortune.
The Open Philanthropy Project has evolved into a distinct organization, consistently increasing its annual giving and making over $170 million in grants in 2018 alone. Moskovitz advocates for using rationality in decision-making processes.
In 2023, through the Open Philanthropy Project, Moskovitz donated $900,000 to support scientists in Africa, Asia, and South America in studying the impacts of climate change.
Additionally, Moskovitz and Tuna became the youngest couple to join the Giving Pledge initiated by Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, committing to donate the majority of their wealth to philanthropic causes.

Politics
Moskovitz has consistently voted for Democratic Party candidates in every election he has participated in.
