WWE Icon, The Undertaker Underwent Emergency Heart Surgery After WrestleMania
WWE legend The Undertaker, real name Mark Calaway, reportedly had to undergo emergency heart surgery earlier this year, just a day after WrestleMania.
The retired superstar, who bowed out of professional wrestling in 2020 following a storied career, has remained active in the WWE universe through his Six Feet Under podcast.
During a recent episode of the podcast, his wife and fellow WWE star Michelle McCool opened up about the frightening health scare and how it impacted her emotionally, particularly during her own WWE Hall of Fame induction in April.
โI felt that when people would come up to congratulate me and ask how I was doing, I was almost in tears. I would say Iโm okay, but they could tell I wasnโt,โ McCool shared.
She revealed that many assumed her emotional state was tied to the weight of her induction speech. However, the real reason was far more serious โ concerns over her husbandโs heart condition.
โThey thought it was probably just because of the speech, but it was because of the heart issues you had been having weeks prior, which we found out by the grace of God.
โIt ended up being terrifying, the day we got home from WrestleMania, the next morning at 6am, we were at the hospital for heart surgery,โ she recounted.
The incident highlights just how close the WWE Universe came to losing one of its most iconic figures, and fans are grateful for The Undertakerโs recovery.
