Atlanta rapper Ca$h Out, whose real name is John Gibson, has been sentenced to life imprisonment plus an additional 70 years following his conviction in a high-profile RICO and sexual assault case.
A jury found Ca$h Out guilty of multiple charges, including rape and racketeering. According to WSB-TV Atlanta, he received a life sentence for the rape conviction and 70 years for RICO and other related charges. The sentences are to run concurrently.
Ca$h Out rose to fame in 2012 with his hit single Cashinโ Out, which topped the Billboard Rap Airplay chart. He followed up with another popular track, She Twerkinโ, in 2014.
The trial, which lasted two months, exposed a disturbing criminal enterprise involving Gibson, his mother Linda Smith, and his cousin Tyrone Taylor. All were accused of running a sex trafficking ring that exploited women for profit over several years.
Prosecutors presented damning evidence, including incriminating text messages from eight phones. They alleged that Gibson used his celebrity status to lure and manipulate victims. He was portrayed as the ringleader of what authorities described as a โseven-year reign of terror.โ
Linda Smith received a 30-year prison sentence for her role in the scheme, while Taylor was also sentenced to life plus 70 years.
Gibsonโs legal team claimed that the women who testified were coerced and pressured, but the court sided with the prosecutionโs narrative of prolonged exploitation and abuse.
