2-Time All-Star Shares How Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese Changed the WNBA

Caitlin Clark’s 2024 WNBA campaign officially came to an end on Wednesday night, and she will now join fellow star rookie Angel Reese on the sidelines as the offseason gets underway for them.

In fact, if you ask two-time WNBA All-Star Chiney Ogwumike, they may have changed the entire landscape of the league in just one year. Ogwumike noted how last season, the WNBA was defined by superteams. This year, though, it was defined by rookies, thanks in large part to the play of Clark and Reese.

While the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky ultimately came up short of winning it all this season, they undoubtedly put themselves in a better position to succeed thanks to their drafting and development of Clark and Reese.

You can bet teams across the league took note of their impact, and it wouldn’t be much of a surprise to see more of an emphasis get put on drafting and developing strong teams, rather than trying to craft a super team like they had done in years past.

It’s certainly a concept that has worked in other professional sports, and it’s safe to say that Ogwumike makes a great point about the impact these two star rookies have had on the league in such a short amount of time.
