Early Life
Yetunde Barnabas, born on August 30, 1990, in Ilorin, Kwara state, hails from Kogi State.
She was raised in Abuja and received her secondary school education at the Kings of Kings Secondary School.
Subsequently, she further developed her acting abilities at Seriki Olopolo Production and Royal Arts Academy.
Career
Yetunde Barnabas embarked on her modeling journey by enrolling in the Miss Olokun beauty pageant in 2013, where she emerged as the winner.
She further participated in various smaller pageants, such as the Miss Live Your Dream in 2014, but it was her involvement in the Most Beautiful Girl in Abuja pageant that truly brought her recognition.
In 2016, Barnabas registered for the 2017 Most Beautiful Girl in Abuja competition, which she triumphed in, leading to a national endorsement deal with Multichoice/DSTV.
Additionally, she was appointed as a brand ambassador for an estate management firm based in Abuja.
Capitalizing on her newfound fame, Barnabas seized the opportunity to audition for the role of Ms Pepeiye, an iconic character in one of Nigeria’s longest-running television sitcoms, Papa Ajasco & Company.
Her audition was successful, and she has since taken on prominent roles in numerous Nollywood film productions, including Erin Folami, Dagogo, Omo Iya Osun, and Elegbenla, where she shared the screen with Niyi Johnson and Akin Olaiya.
Furthermore, Barnabas has ventured into movie production, with the 2018 film Omo Iya Osun being one of her notable works, receiving positive reviews.
Awards and Recognition
Yetunde Barnabas received nominations for Most Promising Actress of the Year at the Nigerian Achiever’s Awards, Model of the Year at the Scream Awards 2019, and Beauty Queen of the Year at the Africa Choice Awards in 2019.
Additionally, in August of the same year, she was chosen by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) to participate in the Ewatomi beauty campaign along with other African models.
