Kenneth Mitchell, born on November 25, 1974, and passed away on February 24, 2024, was a talented Canadian actor.

He gained recognition for his portrayal of Eric Green in the CBS show Jericho (2006–2008) and for his versatile performances in Star Trek: Discovery (2017–2021).

Kenneth Mitchell also showcased his acting skills in movies such as Miracle (2004) where he played Ralph Cox, and Captain Marvel (2019) where he took on the role of Joseph Danvers.

Kenneth Mitchell Career 

In 2004, Mitchell starred in the movie Miracle alongside Kurt Russell, portraying the character of hockey player Ralph Cox, who was the final player to be cut from the 1980 Men’s Olympic Hockey Team.

Mitchell took on the role of Eric Green in the American television series Jericho, which was initially cancelled by CBS in May 2007.

However, due to a fan campaign to revive the show, it was reinstated on the 2007-08 schedule.

In 2014, Mitchell joined the cast of ABC’s The Astronaut Wives Club, where he played the character of Deke Slayton.

Additionally, Mitchell portrayed three recurring Klingon roles in Star Trek: Discovery, including Kol in season 1, Kol-Sha (Kol’s father) in season 2, and Tenavik. He also appeared in season 3 as Aurellio, a character who, like Mitchell, used a wheelchair-like device due to his amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) disease.

Mitchell hinted at his appearance in season 4 as a character who, similar to his own situation, has lost the ability to speak. Furthermore, Mitchell was cast in the FX series The Old Man by Dan Shotz, incorporating Mitchell’s condition into the character.

Mitchell tied the knot with actress Susan May Pratt in May 2006. They were blessed with two children, a daughter in 2007 and a son in 2012.

In February 2020, Mitchell disclosed that he had received a diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

He began using a power wheelchair in October 2019. To accommodate Mitchell’s wheelchair, the creators of Star Trek: Discovery portrayed Aurelio’s wheelchair as a hover chair due to a genetic condition.

As of August 2021, Mitchell had lost his ability to speak as a result of the illness. Mitchell passed away on February 24, 2024, at the age of 49.
