Padukone, the offspring of renowned badminton player Prakash Padukone, was born in Copenhagen and spent her formative years in Bangalore. Her father, Prakash Padukone, is a former professional badminton player, while her mother, Ujjala, works as a travel agent. Her younger sister, Anisha, is a golfer. The family moved to Bangalore, India when Padukone was just a year old. She attended Sophia High School in Bangalore and completed her pre-university education at Mount Carmel College. Initially, she enrolled at the Indira Gandhi National Open University for a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology but had to drop out due to conflicts with her modeling career.

Padukone has mentioned that she was socially awkward as a child and didn’t have many friends. Her main focus was on badminton, which she played competitively from a young age.
