UTME 2025: Can I Reuse My Old JAMB Profile Code? Candidates Share Their Experiences

As preparations for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) commence, many returning candidates are seeking clarity on whether they can reuse their old JAMB profile codes from previous registration attempts. This question arose after a candidate, identified as Ezeh, shared his experience on an online discussion forum.

Ezeh explained that he attempted to generate a new JAMB profile code by sending his National Identification Number (NIN) to 55019, but received a message stating that his NIN was already registered with another phone number. He added that he still had his old profile code from three years ago and asked whether it was still valid for the 2025 UTME registration.

Several respondents, including Tedum144, God’spower, and Azeez Oyebola, reassured him that old JAMB profile codes remain valid and can indeed be reused for subsequent registrations. According to them, once a profile code has been generated and linked to a candidate’s NIN, it remains permanently tied to their JAMB profile.

However, another user, Golden, raised a concern about candidates who might have forgotten their old profile codes. For such cases, candidates are advised to send “RESEND” to 55019 or 66019 using the phone number linked to their NIN. This action allows candidates to retrieve their existing profile code without generating a new one.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has previously clarified that candidates do not need to create a new profile code if they already have one. Instead, they should focus on ensuring that their NIN is correctly registered and linked to a functional phone number.

JAMB also emphasized the importance of early preparation and profile creation, as delays in generating or retrieving profile codes could disrupt the registration process.
