Nollywood actress Uche Jombo has officially delivered the AMVCA Best Actress award to her close friend and colleague, Chioma Akpotha, weeks after the 10th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards ceremony in Lagos.

Chioma, who won Best Actress in a Drama for her outstanding performance in “Seven Doors”, was absent at the May 10 event, sparking fan reactions when Uche, who attended, did not collect the trophy on her behalf.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, June 16, Uche shared a video of herself flying to the United States to hand over the award personally. In the emotional clip, Chioma expressed gratitude, saying:
“Thank you, Jesus, thank you, my mama in heaven, thank you AMVCA, thank you my fans.”

Chioma reflected on her journey, calling the award a reward for her persistence:
“It’s been a long journey of highs and lows, but I stayed true to my craft. That’s why I hold this award today.”

She also revealed she almost rejected the “Seven Doors” role until producer Femi Adebayo, who also won Best Actor in a Drama, convinced her otherwise.

The private presentation was followed by a surprise celebration with friends and family in the U.S.

The AMVCA 2025, held at Eko Hotel and Suites, saw Chioma triumph over top contenders like Bimbo Ademoye, Hilda Dokubo, and Gbubemi Ejeye.
