Manchester City have completed the signing of Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan in a deal worth £46.3 million, marking their fourth signing of the summer transfer window.
The 26-year-old Netherlands international joins the Premier League giants on a five-year contract after a stellar 2024/25 campaign in Serie A, where he was named Midfielder of the Year. Reijnders scored a career-best 15 goals and provided five assists in 54 appearances across all competitions.
“I am ecstatic to be signing for Manchester City,” Reijnders said via the club’s official website. “City are one of the biggest teams in the world, with the best coach, world-class players, and outstanding facilities. Playing in the Premier League is a dream come true.”
Reijnders’ arrival comes just in time for the FIFA Club World Cup, kicking off this weekend, as City aim to bounce back from a disappointing 2024/25 season. After winning four consecutive Premier League titles, Pep Guardiola’s side slipped to third place, finishing behind Liverpool and Arsenal. City also exited early from the Champions League and Carabao Cup and suffered a surprise defeat to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final.
The Dutch star joins a growing list of summer recruits, including Rayan Aït-Nouri (£36.3m from Wolves), Rayan Cherki (£34m from Lyon), and goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli from Chelsea for a nominal fee. City’s total summer outlay now stands at £116 million.
Overall, Manchester City have spent £293.1 million in 2025, including a winter window spree worth £176.5 million, which saw the arrivals of Omar Marmoush (£63.2m), Nico Gonzalez (£50m), Abdukodir Khusanov (£33.7m), and Vitor Reis (£29.6m)—more than double the spending of their nearest rivals, Chelsea (£125.7m).
