She provided the voice for the main character in the animated musicals of the Trolls film series. Early Life
Kendrick came into the world in Portland, Maine, on August 9, 1985, as the offspring of Janice (née Cooke), an accountant, and William Kendrick, a history teacher. Her lineage can be traced back to English, Irish, and Scottish origins.
Additionally, she has an elder brother who is an actor and made an appearance in the drama film Looking for an Echo (2000).
During her formative years, she pursued her education at Deering High School.
Career
Kendrick embarked on her professional journey at the age of 12, taking on a supporting role in the 1998 Broadway musical High Society.
Her exceptional performance in the production not only earned her a Theater World Award but also garnered nominations for Featured Actress in a Musical at both the Drama Desk Awards and Tony Awards.
Continuing her theatrical pursuits, she later secured a supporting role in the 2003 New York City Opera production of Stephen Sondheim’s renowned musical A Little Night Music.
Transitioning to the world of cinema, Kendrick made her film debut in the musical Camp, portraying the character of the nerdy Fritzi Wagner.

During an interview with Terry Gross on NPR, Kendrick revealed that she was raised in the Episcopalian faith. However, as a child, she had a fear of certain passages in the Old Testament, which led her to stop attending church at the age of 14.
In 2009, Kendrick started dating English filmmaker Edgar Wright after they crossed paths while working on the film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.
However, their relationship came to an end in March 2013.
Following her split from Wright, Kendrick began dating English cinematographer Ben Richardson in February 2014. They met while filming Drinking Buddies. Unfortunately, their relationship has also ended since then.
In late 2020 or early 2021, Kendrick started dating actor Bill Hader.
However, by June 2022, they had decided to end their relationship.
Kendrick has openly shared that her experience in an emotionally abusive relationship served as inspiration for her performance in the film Alice, Darling.
Tragically, Kendrick’s father passed away in November 2022.
