Actors Guild of Nigeria Unveils New National Secretariat, Launches Super App

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) achieved a major milestone on Saturday with the inauguration of its new national secretariat in the Gaduwa District of Abuja and the unveiling of the AGN Super Appโa move aimed at transforming the guild into a digitally-driven, welfare-focused institution for Nigerian actors.
Led by AGN President Emeka Rollas, the landmark event was also marked by the introduction of a prototype for the AGN Galleria creative hub, signalling a renewed focus on infrastructure, talent development, and digital inclusion in Nollywood.
โAs the largest association in the culture sector in Africa, we are determined to take our place of pride at the forefront of the evolution of the sector,โ said Rollas during his address. โIt became imperative that we must put in place the necessary infrastructures to help carry out this enormous task effectively.โ
A New Era for AGN
The new Abuja secretariat is envisioned as more than just a physical officeโitโs a hub for creativity, collaboration, and administration. Rollas described it as a foundation for improved member welfare and operational efficiency.
โThis milestone attests to the phenomenal transformation that the present leadership of the Guild has continued to unveil,โ he said.

With the AGN Super App, members can now register, pay dues, access casting calls, auditions, exclusive events, and other guild services from their smartphones. The platform was described as a โdigital handshake to the worldโ, streamlining processes and modernizing communication within the association.
Federal Endorsement and Industry Recognition
Ugochi Akudo-Nwosu, who represented the Minister of Art, Culture and the Creative Economy Hannatu Musawa, praised the AGNโs vision, describing the new secretariat as:
โA hub for creativity, collaboration and innovation. This is a reflection of the vibrant potential of Nigeriaโs creative economy.โ
She emphasized Nollywoodโs role in shaping the nationโs image globally and acknowledged Abujaโs emerging potential as a creative destination alongside Lagos under the Destination 2030 plan.
A Call for Government Partnership
Rollas used the occasion to appeal for government support, urging the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) administration and the Ministry of Art, Culture and the Creative Economy to partner with AGN on capacity-building, talent discovery, and youth development.
โWe extend our hand of fellowship to the FCT Minister for a mutually beneficial partnership to discover and nurture teeming youths in FCT who are interested in the film industry.โ
Moving Forward
Since taking office in 2017, Emeka Rollas has led reforms aimed at digitizing AGN operations, promoting professionalism, and expanding member benefits. With over two million registered actors, the guild is now positioning itself as a leading force not only in Nigerian entertainment but also across Africaโs creative economy.
The AGN Super App is expected to be a game-changer, empowering actors with direct access to opportunities and resources, while reducing bureaucracy and enhancing transparency.
As Nollywood continues to evolve, the AGNโs latest moves underscore its commitment to leading that evolutionโwith tech, infrastructure, and actor welfare at its core.
