Transfer: I can’t have Isak in my team – Newcastle boss, Howe

‎ ‎

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has confirmed that striker Alexander Isak will not be part of his squad for now as speculation over a summer move to Liverpool intensifies.

The Sweden international has made clear his desire to join the Reds, with Liverpool maintaining their focus on the forward in the final weeks of the transfer window. Isak has already informed Newcastle’s hierarchy of his wish to leave, and Liverpool are reportedly prepared to submit a new offer if the Magpies signal openness to the move.

Isak remains firm in his stance that he does not want to stay or play for Newcastle and is eager to secure a switch to Anfield.

Speaking to the press on Friday, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano, Howe said:

“It’s clear at the moment we can’t have Isak involved with the group. He is here, so of course he has a future at Newcastle. From our perspective, we would love to have him back with the team, but the situation has to be right for that to happen.”
