United Airlines Pilot Apologizes for What Happened on Flight

A United Airlines pilot took it upon himself to apologize for his company’s lack of refreshments on a recent four-hour flight.

In a video being circulated online, the unnamed pilot addresses the cabin prior to takeoff, offering a mea culpa for the lack of snacks and requesting that passengers let United know of their disapproval.

“First and foremost, we have not done you right,” the pilot says in the clip shared by content creator Nancy Kaatz. “For those of you who take the opportunity to give us a feedback, I am really asking you to include that in your comments. I am disappointed in my company, and the way that we failed you today.”

The man, who is a father of 10 and has been a commercial pilot of 26 years, explained that the snack snafu was the result of United switching to a new company that “does not have it together yet.”

“If I were in charge, there would have been a cart full of goodies for you out — at least in the gate area to alleviate that,” he added.

The amiable aviator went on to detail his service in the Air Force, which included seven combat tours.

“I’ve had the opportunity to put together several teams. I’d like to put together a team today, of you, me and my crew,” he said.

“We’re all going to the same place, let’s have a great time doing it. I’m going to invite you to help me put the ‘friendly’ in the friendly skies. Let’s be kind to each other. Let’s be polite.”

The pilot’s friendly demeanor has earned him widespread praise in the comments section of the video. Considering this isn’t the first time that United has had food problems on one of its flights recently, kudos to him for stepping up and supporting his passengers.
