KODA, Augustine Kofi Owusu Dua Anto born on December 15, 1978, and passed away on April 21, 2024, was a renowned gospel singer, songwriter, record producer, and multi-instrumentalist hailing from Takoradi, Ghana.

Early Life and Education 

KODA’s passion for musical instruments blossomed at a young age. At 10, his mother enrolled him in a music class, where he honed his guitar skills.

During his time at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), he took on the role of mass choir director.

Additionally, he served as the music director and instrumentalist for various groups including the “Music Wing of Baptist Students Union”, “KNUST’s Simply Jazz Crew”, and “God’s Instruments”.

KODA was also a key member of “Da Project”, a renowned Ghanaian contemporary gospel group.

Following his university studies, he collaborated on the production of the acclaimed album, Awurade Ei, for KNUST’s “God’s Instruments” at KODED studios in Takoradi, Ghana.

The album achieved widespread acclaim, featuring popular tracks like “Awurade Ei” (“Se Woma Wonsa Soa”), “Tumi”, and “Onyame Ye D’awase”.

Music Career 

KODA’s work on Nii Okai’s Moko Be and Gye W’ayeyi albums significantly boosted his reputation as a producer.

He collaborated with various gospel artists both in and outside of Ghana, such as Nii Okai, “Pastor Joseph Gyebi”, Danny Nettey, Pastor Joe Beecham, “Daughters of Glorious Jesus”, “Joyful Way Inc.”, Pastor Helen Yawson, Yaw Osei-Owusu, “Ike Nanor”, Eugene Zuta, Jesse Jenkins, Diana Hamilton, and Calvis Hammond, among others.

Together with his friends in Takoradi, KODA formed The Anointed music group, which has been instrumental in supporting numerous gospel ministries locally and internationally.

Version 1: KODA has released four vocal and two gospel jazz albums. His first album, “Nyame Beye,” and the second album, “Waye Wie,” featured popular tracks like “Waye Wie,” ‘Zion’s song,’ “Poma,” ‘Amen,’ and more. The third album, “Black & White,” included hits such as ‘Guide Me O,’ “Nkwa Abodoo,” “Obiara Nte Se Wo,” and the controversial single, “Nsem Pii.”

In 2016, he launched the album “OXYGEN,” which showcased songs like “Adooso,” “Yaa Pae,” and “Chimo.” His latest vocal album, “Keteke,” was released in 2021.

Additionally, KODA has shared his musical expertise through two instructional DVDs on bass and lead guitar, as well as three live DVDs of his major concerts: ‘KODA live 2008,’ ‘Black and White live 2013,’ and ‘Oxygen Live 2016.’
